Recently Costa vs Whittaker, scheduled for UFC 284 was canceled. It has been fairly obvious that Costa will not be on the card based on his Twitter. Fans everywhere have been wondering if Robert Whittaker would still get an opponent to fight near his home in Perth. According to Whittaker, himself, the answer is sadly no.

Robert Whittaker took it upon himself to post a video on Instagram regarding the situation. Whittaker said he will unfortunately no longer be scheduled for UFC 284 in February as the UFC is looking to get him a fight for March or April. Whittaker also dropped some interesting information regarding Costa's contract situation. "UFC tried everything in their power to get Costa to the fight, they gave him the new contract from what I understand, he still said no." Now does this mean the UFC offered Costa what he feels his worth is? No, and based on what we know about fighter pay I honestly doubt they offered Costa whatever he is asking for. I'm not sure what Costa wants, but he is a very exciting fighter as most of his fights feel like a don't-blink type of action. As for Whittaker I definitely feel his pain as he is a legend in the sport and deserves a hometown fight.
