As we know, Conor McGregor has recently been taken off the UFC Lightweight rankings. Grant Dawson is the fighter who took his place. Now, Tony Ferguson has been replaced by Drew Dober. It makes total sense, yet Tony being removed from the rankings saddens me far more than Conor. No disrespect to Conor, but Tony Ferguson is way more of a legend in the lightweight division. Conor had one Lightweight win and it was in 2016. Tony fought the majority of his career at lightweight and there was one point where it looked like no one in the division could beat, nor wanted to fight Tony. When Tony was on that twelve-fight win streak, it almost seemed like Khabib was ducking him with the number of times their fights got canceled, even when Tony wasn't hurt. Tony Ferguson will be a first-ballot Hall of Famer when it is all said and done, he is a true legend. Currently, he is studying at Harvard, so good for Tony!

As for Drew Dober and Grant Dawson, they are both huge up-and-comers we have been hearing about for some time. It seems the UFC finally thinks it's time for Dober and Dawson to join the top fifteen and start fighting the best of the best in the division. Both men are currently on two-fight win streaks. Dober is known for his knockouts and his chin, while Dawson seems to be a balanced martial artist with a jiu-jitsu background. Dober's biggest wins have come against Rafael Alves, Terrance McKinney, and most recently Bobby Green. Dober is also no stranger to half of the top four fighters. Dober lost to the champion Islam Makhachev in March of 2021 and Beneil Dariush in March of 2019. Maybe March is unlucky for Dober, or maybe Dober wasn't ready for those two superstars. Grant Dawson could be on a five-fight win streak, which is sadly only a two-fight win streak due to a draw that Ricky Glenn. However, his two-fight win streak includes two savages, Mark O. Madsen and Jared "Flash" Gordon. There is a lot to look forward to in the Lightweight division and I'm sure Dober is looking to get back those two fights against Makhachev and Dariush in the near future.
