Beneil Dariush is currently the fourth-ranked UFC fighter in the Lightweight Division. Dariush is on an eight-fight win streak and it seems like no one is talking about it. Alexander Volkanovski is skipping the Lightweight line, coming up as the Featherweight Champion of the World to fight Islam Makhachev in a Champion vs Champion super fight at UFC 284 in Perth. If Beneil doesn't get the next title shot after Volk vs Islam, the UFC is playing favorites behind the curtain.

As I mentioned, Dariush is on an eight-fight win streak. This is currently the longest win streak in the Lightweight Division outside of the champ, himself. Dariush has beaten Drew Dober, Drakkar Klose, Tony Ferguson, and Mateusz Gamrot during this streak. Two ranked opponents, one being Tony Ferguson was ranked much higher than where he is now at the bottom of the rankings. Drew Dober will also be ranked in no time. Beneil is also the cause of the famous Joe Rogan, Jon Anik, and Daniel Cormier's reaction that became a viral internet meme when he knocked out Drakkar Klose.

Dariush has five knockouts. He has proven to carry heavy hands. Not only does Dariush have some heavy hands, but Beneil's fighting background is a jiu-jitsu background, and yes he is a black belt. He also just looks bigger than his competition when they're grappling in the octagon. Beneil looks like he could be fighting at Welterweight. He hasn't had any problems on the scale, but I think it's time we get to see Beneil fight for the Lightweight championship. No disrespect to Alexander Volkanovski, but outside of Dariush I don't believe anyone in the Lightweight division can defeat Islam. With Beneil's size, hands, and jiu-jitsu he really may be the only chance at defeating Makhachev. If and when Beneil does win the Lightweight belt, he'll certainly gain the following he deserves.
